The prairies and all the flatness that comes with it.

The drive from Kakabeka Falls to Falcon lake usually takes 6 hrs. NOT TODAY! Oh my blasting! Since the Trans Canada Highway has only one way in and one way out, it makes construction in lower Ontario a cakewalk. At least in southern ontario there are alternate routes around construction. On the TC HWY there is just waiting….lol. Our journey took almost 8 hrs. By the time we arrived to our campsite, we were tired. The prairies are a vast sight of NOTHING. If all the flat earthers came from the prairies, I could understand why they feel this way. It is a whole lot of horizon with little to no trees except in campgrounds and small towns. The coolest thing is the cattle yards. Farmer’s land is severed by the TC HWY. You literally see corrals leading to culverts with the tunnels going under the highway. Just like in the movies.  Falcon Lake was pretty , but the fishing sucked. A deep lake with no boat. The colours are changing here far more prevalent than Ontario. It is cooler. The funny thing is they are just starting to take off their winter wheat. In Ontario they do this mid to late July. My mom always said that you knew summer was half over because the farmers where taking off the wheat. Here, that saying wouldn’t apply.

We settled in and had our first steak dinner on the road. It was lovely. Then we went for a walk on the beach as a family to watch the sunset. We had a small campfire and went off to sleep with opened windows and the sound of the wind.In the morning I took Forest for a walk. Annika found a cute little raincoat for him because Prince yippie toes doesn’t like getting wet. Funny story, Annika didn’t realize the underbelly size of the rain coat was not quite right  and it over lapped Forests willie. As I am watching him pee I realize the pee is streaming out of the neck of the raincoat. FML!

Day four here we come, off to Moose Mountain Provincial Park in Saskatchewan
